So what's a LAN Party anyways?
Basically a LAN Party is a gathering of people/gamers who bring their computers, connect, play games together on a local network, and have fun by annoyingly taunting their friends. Why would we do this? Well, for most gamers, your computer is very costly piece of equipment in which you have invested quite a bit of time and money into (case mod's, lighting, etc...), so what better way to show it off than to have it available to drool over in front of all your friends while you make them suk' down a projectile from your rocket launcher? To sum it up, a LAN Party is the MOST fun you can have with your system, and close to zero lag if any! PERIOD.
A Hub is a piece of network hardware that allows computers to communicate to each other. The data being sent from the computer to the Hub and is examined by the Hub and when the Hub finishes examining the data it decides where the data needs to be sent.
Remember when you were a young kid? Dad made you go break these off the tree.... Oh... wait!... never mind that! .... A switch is similar to a Hub. It receives data and examines it, then sends it to the desired location. The difference between a Hub and a Switch is that the switch is a "intelligent/smart" Hub, it examines the data and sends that data to the required computer. The Hub however sends this data to all computers until if finds the correct one. A switch is much more reliable on a network and also more stable when sending packets (data) across the network.
